Ruger P345

Ruger P345 holster

When we want to buy a new holster for a gun, we need to know some key things about the gun to be able to choose a holster that will be able to effectively carry the gun. So below we take a look at some key facts and figures of the Ruger P345.

Weapon Size and Weight:

The Ruger P345 has the following measurements:

  • Length: 7.63 inches
  • Barrel Length: 4.21 inches
  • Width: 1.2 inches
  • Height: 5.75 inches
  • Weight: 1.81 lbs

It appears from looking at the figures above that the Ruger P345 is a medium sized gun. That means there are quite a few holster choices available to us, but some concealed carry options such as pocket holsters or ankle holsters will probably not be relevant. We will probably be better off looking at the usual suspects of inside the waistband (IWB) holsters or over the waistband (OWB) holsters.

5 RUGER P345 HOLSTER OPTIONS - A Detailed Look

To really be able to choose the right holster for our Ruger P345, we need to look at some specifics. This includes how well the holster will fit the gun, how comfortable it is to wear and how affordable it is. So we look at 5 holsters a bit closer.

Ace Case Nylon Holster

We start off our list of Ruger P345 holster options with a straight forward and affordable Nylon holster from Ace Case. The holster is listed to be 100% American made and is constructed from Nylon with a metal clip.

There are not many frills and fancy features on this holster. As you would expect from a Nylon holster it has a thumb break with an adjustable steel shank. The holster was designed so that you can secure the holster by putting your belt through the belt loops and attaching the metal clip to your pants. This should ensure a really secure carry so that you don't have to worry about your holster coming undone at the worst time! The metal clip to clip the holster to your belt or pants can be moved to either side of the holster, making it an ambidextrous holster. It also has a magazine pouch for double stacked or two single stacked magazines.

Overall feedback from users have been positive for this holster, with users pointing out that it fits well, secures the weapon and is well constructed.

FoxX Holsters Ruger P345 In The Waist Band Hybrid Holster

This holster from FoxX hoslters is made from 9 oz permium lather and .06" Kydex, and comes with a steel belt clip. As the name suggests, this holster is a IWB holster, which can be adjusted for ride height and forward cant. This holster is specifically designed for the Ruger P345, so it should fit like a glove! (although it will need a bit of breaking-in at first).

Users are very happy with the carry comfort of the holster, pointing out that you should carry the holster on a stiff belt as with the weapon holstered it is a bit heavy. Carried on a stiff belt, the weapon stays very secure in the holster.

If you want a really comfortable carry holster that allows for excellent concealment, we highly recommend this Ruger P345 holster option! At the price that it is currently retailing for, you get a lot of value for your money. Once again, it is suggested that you carry this holster with a sturdy belt to make sure the weapon does not flop away from your hip when you carry it.

Galco Cop 3 Slot Holster

This leather holster from Galco is designed to allow for carry in both strong side and cross draw positions. It also allows for good retention via the retention screw near the trigger guard that you can adjust to your liking, while the rear sight is protected by a wide safety strap and reinforced thumb break. Good news for southpaws is that this holster is available in left-handed version too.

We really like the fact that the low-cut design allows for easier, faster clearance of the firearm from the holster. With the cant options you can also carry the holster that feels the most comfortable to you.

This holster is a little more expensive than some of the other Ruger P345 holster options, but it is worth it. Being made from quality leather, this holster is going to stand up to constant use and last you a long time. It will take some breaking in as is the case with leather holster, but do not let that put you off! Some users suggested pulling a very thin sock over your pistol and inserting it into the holster and then letting it sit for a while.

Fobus Tactical Speed Holster

This is the most "tacticool" Ruger P345 holster option on our list. This holster from Fobus, who are well known holster makers, is designed so that you can carry you weapon with a pistol light or lazer attached (check out list of the best pistol light options here, if you are interested).

Fobus points out the fact that this is a maintenance free holster that does not require any oiling and it also does not breath or sweat. You can easily clean the holster with some good old fashioned soap and water.

Your weapon is kept in place by utilization of a muzzle stud and a safety strap that encircles the trigger guard. While assuring positive retention, rapid presentation of the handgun is made easy due to the open withdrawal slot on the rear of the holster and the design of the safety strap. Overall users are very happy with the comfortable carry that the holster provides by means of the rubberized paddle and that the holster does not wobble around when secured. The enlarge thumb break also makes it extremely easy to draw and holster the weapon with one hand. When your palm is around the grip, your index finger naturally places on the thumb break.

Fobus is giving a lifetime warranty with this holster, which should be a good indicator for how much trust they have in the quality of their product. One recurring negative comment from users is that the inside rivets tend to scratch the weapon when being holstered. This of course can be fixed by simply putting some tape over the rivets. We would also have liked that it provide more options for adjusting the cant/tilt, which it does not.

SOB Small of Back Concealed Gun Holster

Finally, a Ruger P345 holster option specifically designed for concealed carry! This holster from King Holster is a Small of Back (SOB) inside the waistband holster that has a metal clip for easy attachment to your belt or pants. Unfortunately the clip cannot be switched over to the other side of the holster to accommodate left-handed users.

It is made from soft synthetic suede, which gives a nice feel to the holster and does not irritate your skin like some other holsters might do. The disadvantage of the soft suede is that it makes re-holstering a bit more difficult as the holster will collapse in after you have drawn your weapon from it. But of course, you should ideally not have to draw and re-holster your weapon very often.

Overall this is a comfortable holster at a very affordable price. If you want a holster that will last a really long time and stand up to rigorous use, there might be better options out there.

We have looked at 5 holsters individually, but how do they compare to each other if we want to pick the best option for us?

The Ace Case holster is a straight forward Nylon holster that comes at an affordable price. It comes with an extra pouch for your magazine(s), but other than that there are no fancy features on this holster. By carrying it clipped to your pants and clipped to your belt, it provides a nice secure carry. This is a great Ruger P345 holster option if you just want an affordable holster to carry your weapon in every day.

The Foxx holster is a bit more expensive than the Ace Case holster as it is made from premium leather and Kydex. It is a great option if you want to carry concealed and wears really comfortably (but remember to wear it on a stiff belt to make sure it carries securely). It is more expensive than the Ace Case, but you still get good value for your money and a quality holster.

The Galco leather holster is a solid holster that will probably last you a really long time if you look after it. It is a bit more expensive than most of the other Ruger P345 holster options, but certainly a wise investment. It looks good, fits the P345 well and provides a comfortable carry.

The Fobus tactical holster looks cool and does not break the bank. It is low maintenance and comes with a lifetime warranty, so gives you some peace of mind. Considering that it should stand up to the rigours of daily wear and is comfortable, this is a really good option for folks that are looking for a everyday carry holster for their Ruger P345.

The King Holster SOB holster is a the cheapest holster on our list. It feels nice and is well suited for concealed carry, however probably not a holster that is going to last you a life time. The holster is made from soft suede and does not have a hard shell, so if you need to draw and holster your weapon frequently then we would rather recommend a hard shell holster.

Which holster would we choose?

If we had to choose a Ruger P345 holster option, we would probably go for the Galco COP 3 slot holster. It is a little bit more expensive than the other options, but it is still pretty affordable for the level of quality that you get. The leather always looks really nice and should protect your weapon well. We also like that you can adjust the tilt of the holster to fit your style and comfort level. True, you have to put some work into it to break it in, but good things always tend to need a bit of work to get the best out of it!
