Is there such a thing as the best rifle? Sure….but it depends on who you ask! Because different people will have different answers to that questions. And the reason for that is simple – we all have different needs and different taste. Some folks need a rifle for hunting while other folks need a rifle for long range target shooting. Some folks like a “tacti-cool” rifle while other folks want a classic looking rifle that might look nice up on their wall.
So really, the best rifle really depends on you and what your own needs are!
How To Choose The Best Rifle For Your Needs
Ok, so how do we actually go about choosing a rifle? Let’s look at some of the broad aspects that you need to keep in mind in order to choose a rifle that is right for you.
What You Need to Use It For
What you want to use your rifle for is probably the first thing you need to decide. Do you need a hunting rifle? A rifle to learn how to shoot with? A long range target shooting rifle? Or do you want something for self-defence?
One you have answered that question, you can start looking at which type of rifle will work best. For example, if you want something for self-defence, you can perhaps look at a shotgun or maybe a AR-15 even. However if you are a novice looking to just learn to shoot, or maybe you want to teach someone how to shoot, a 22 caliber rifle might be a good option to look at.
The thing about rifle is that they can be expensive! So you will need to decide how much you realistically want to spend and stick to that. As often is the case, you get what you pay for though. So be careful to choose a rifle just because it is super cheap, as it might not have the reliability and accuracy that a more expensive rifle might have.
On the flip side of the coin, the most expensive rifle is not necessarily always the best rifle. For example the Mosin-Nagant rifle is an affordable rifle, but is also known for being one of the most successful and widely used rifles of all time!
While not a huge factor, you probably want to also keep in mind whether you want to use any attachments on your rifle. For example do you need to use a particular scope or bi-pod? Some attachments only fit specific types of rifles.
