COMPARISON TABLE OF Walther PPK HOLSTER OPTIONS
The table below compares 10 Walther PPK holster options according to material, ratings and price. To see any of the holsters below on Amazon.com, simply click on the holster’s image to take you to that holster’s product page.
The most common variant of the Walther PP is the Walther PPK, a smaller version with a shorter grip, barrel, frame and reduced magazine capacity. A new, two-piece wrap-around grip panel construction was used to conceal the exposed back strap. The smaller size made it more concealable than the original PP and hence better suited to plainclothes or undercover work. It is of course most famous for being the pistol of choice for the fictional spy James Bond. What some people might not know is that Hitler used a Walther PPK to commit suicide at the end of WWII. Even Elvis Presley owned a silver-barreled PPK, inscribed “TCB” (“Taking Care of Business”).
KEEP THIS IN MIND
When choosing a Walther PPK holster, there are a few key considerations you need to keep in mind in order to choose the right holster. Firearms can be different when it comes to functionality, weight and size.
Weapon Size and Weight:
The Walther PPK has the following measurements:
Barrel Length: 3.3″
Weight: 20/21 oz
From the above dimensions, you can see that the Walther PPK is a small to medium sized handgun that has been designed with concealed carry in mind. The holster options that will be generally available for this handgun will be concealed carrry holsters such as inside the waistband (IWB) holsters, shoulder holsters, etc.
OUR REVIEW OF 5 Walther PPK HOLSTER OPTIONS
Below we look at 5 Walther PPK holster options that are available on Amazon. We look at the materials that the holsters are made from, the comfort of how it is worn, how it fits the Walther PPK, and how easy it is to draw your weapon from the holster.
Here are our top 5 Walther PPK holster options:
DeSantis Sof-Tuck PPK/PPKS Right Hand Tan
First on our list is the Soft-Tuck holster from DeSantis. It is made from soft suede leather with the top of the holster being reinforced with saddle leather to help make reholstering easy and smooth. The holster is available in both right-hand and left-hand configurations.
Designed as a IWB/Tuck holster with a low print profile and tight body ride, it is the ideal holster if you have concealed carry in mind. The soft suede leather will not irritate your skin or chafe your clothes like holster made from harsher materials would. Of course the suede leather will absorb moisture a lot more, so if you tend to sweat a lot or be in wet conditions, the holster might not last very well. This also means keeping it clean will be more challenging, however if you wear it under your clothes most of the time it should not get too dirty anyway.
The adjustable cant makes carrying this holster very comfortable as you can adjust the cant to your preferred position. The clip of the holster is nice and tight so that the holster will stay in place without flopping all over the place.
One thing that would worry us is the is the lack of a retention strap/mechanism to keep the gun in place so that it does not slip out of the holster. If you carry it IWB, then it should not be too much of a problem.
Overall this is a well made holster that comes in at a very affordable price. It is very comfortable to wear (especially for extended carry) and provides for good concealed carry. At the price that it retails for, it provides really good value for money.
Fobus Standard Holster RH Paddle PPKE2 Walther PPK WALTHER PPK/S FIREARMS
This is an over-the-waist-band, mid-priced Walther PPK holster and is made from injection molding Kydex, something that Fobus is renowned for. The material used means that these holsters are robust, whilst also not needing any of the maintenance that leather holsters require, such as the need to oil, allowing a holster to breath, or breaking a holster in – something which has made it a favourite with different military and special security forces around the world (Fobus designed their range of holsters with this in mind). This Walther PPK holster has been designed for right handed shooters, and it attaches to a belt via the included paddle.
We loved how light this holster was, and it holds the Walther PPK very close to the body. Naturally, as an OWB, you do need to think about using a jacket or a long sweater to cover the holster, as well as the need to wear a belt. These Walther PPK holsters come with a tension screw so you can adjust the tension until you get the right balance between pistol retention and smooth draw. We found the tension screw to be very sensitive, with just a quarter spin making a noticeable difference.
Fit for the Walther PPK is perfect. We can’t really fault this holster, except with the fact that most people buy the small Walther PPK because of its size and the ability for it to fit into pockets, or concealed almost entirely by an IWB holster. As this Walther PPK holster is an OWB holster, there are constraints as to what clothing you wear, and of course, you have to wear a belt.
Holster for Walther PPK & PPK/S with built-in Magazine Pouch
If you are looking for a straightforward work-horse type holster, then this Nylon holster from Federal Holsterworks could be the right Kel-Tec PF9 holster option for you. It is reasonably affordable and is made from sturdy Nylon, so you don’t have to feel bad if it gets dirty or a little worn.
It is designed to be pretty flexible in a number of ways. Firstly, you can adjust it to be either left-handed or right-handed. It can also be worn either on a belt or be clipped to the inside of your pants. For extra sturdiness during carry, it is recommended that you attach it to your belt and clip it to the inside of your pants. It has a thumb-break that keeps your weapon in place when holstered. The thumb-break is positioned across the hammer instead of the grip for a natural feel and a positive draw. An extra magazine pouch mounted on the front channel of the holster is standard.
We really like that it has multi-layer nylon cushion fit, which is designed to mould itself to the shape of the gun. It also means your weapon won’t get scuffed each time you holster your weapon.
If you want a top quality self-defence carry type of holster that you can wear for extended periods, there are probably better Walther PPK holster options out there that will suit your needs. However, if you want an inexpensive holster that you can store your weapon in or take to the range, this is a really good option for you as it won’t break the bank and will get the job done.
OUTBAGS LOB3S-PPK Black Genuine Leather IWB Conceal Carry Gun Holster for Walther PPK 380 & PPK/s 22LR
The second leather holster on our list of Walther PPK holster options, this holster is hand crafted in the USA. The leather is cured and hardened to make sure the holster keeps its shape. This makes it easy to reholster your weapon (as the holster won’t collapse in on itself). It also has a protective clear coating to keep your holster looking good and clean.
This holster is specifically designed to be IWB, so if you are looking to carry concealed, this holster is a good Walther PPK holster for your needs. If you want a holster for OWB carry, then this is not the holster for you.
This is a really nice quality holster for a good price. The only criticism we have for the holster is that its clip tends to be really stiff, which results in it being really difficult to get the holster loose from your pants when you want to take the holster off. This can be a bit awkward if you are in public and need to quickly remove your holster for whatever reason. It can of course be remedied with a bit of DIY if you really want to.
The holster is available in left-hand and right-hand options
Desantis Thumb Break Scabbard Holster
This leather holster comes from Desantis, who are well known for their holsters. The holster is designed to ride high and to be presented at an optimum draw angle. Its thumb break and exact molding, together with a tension device, allows for a secure and highly concealable carry.
The holster does come in different color options (black or tan) and you can also order it in a left-hand version if you are a lefty.
Users noted that this holster rides a bit high, but is really comfortable and is a good option for everyday carry. So if you are looking for a quality leather holster at a reasonable price, which is also really comfortable, then this is a really good Walther PPK holster option for you.
OUR TOP Walther PPK HOLSTER CHOICE
There are really some great Walther PPK holster options available today. So which Walther PPK holster would we choose if we were looking for a holster to fit a PPK? Let’s recap the top options available:
The DeSantis holster is made from quality materials and it provides for comfortable carry. Being made from suede will make it a bit more difficult to keep clean and will be prone to absorbing moisture. At a very affordable price, you will get a good holster that will give you carrying pleasure that you can adjust to suite your carry preferences.
The Fobus Standard Holster is made from Kydex and is extremely robust, having been made with the world’s military services and special forces in mind. This is great fit for the Walther PPK. Draw is also very smooth, once you have adjusted the tension screw to your liking. It is quite concealable, but as an OWB holster, there are limitations as to what you can wear and you definitely need to wear a belt as this Walther PPK holster attaches via a paddle which needs to be attached to a belt.
The Federal Holsterworks holster is an affordable work-horse type holster. It has a standard pouch for an extra magazine and can be adjusted to be worn on the belt or clipped to the inside of the pants (we recommend doing both). If you want an inexpensive straight-forward holster to take to the range or storing your weapon, this is the holster for you.
The Outbags leather holster is a good quality leather holster at a decent price. It is specifically designed for IWB carry only, so if you want something that can also be carried OWB or SOB, then this holster will not satisfy your needs. However if you are looking for an IWB holster specifically, then this will be an excellent choice that won’t let you down.
The Desantis Thumb Break Scabbard holster is a really good looking holster and is made from leather. Users raved about how comfortable it is. If you want a everyday carry holster that does not cost too much, looks good…but also provides for good concealed carry if needed, then this is a solid option.
So which Walther PPK holster option would we choose?
For us, we would want to carry the Walther PPK concealed. For that reason it would probably be between the DeSantis Sof-Tuck or the Outbags leather holster. Both are well made quality holsters that are designed to be IWB holsters. But if we had to choose between the two, the DeSantis Sof-Tuck would be our choice due to the soft suede leather for the extra comfort, and the adjustable cant options.
